One of the most important aspects of our interior design and lifestyle business is the ability to remain as burden-free and flexible as possible, adapting to change quickly and decisively. Nothing has tested this so much as the extremely frustrating corona-virus-enforced lockdown/s, with chopping and changing of the stay-at-home rules, masque-wearing regulations and varied travel restrictions set by different countries around the world. Event design is redundant, interior design is compromised in many ways, digital magazine content is difficult to produce as planned…

As the weeks have progressed, this disruption has made some of our scheduled content completely irrelevant, advertisers and affiliates have had to postpone their projects and luxury promotions have been delayed indefinitely while, for the most part, international travel has come to a halt and hotels remain closed. However, from my point of view, in many ways the personal touch appears to be more important than ever – bespoke and highly specialised experiences are becoming increasingly relevant, and broadcasting the news of these individually tailored products and services is crucial to their success…

Over the past months, the wheels have not stopped turning here at Nicky Summer Lifestyle – photo and video shoots took place both in London and across France, profiling of personalities such as Allegra Handelsman at The Stratford Hotel in London and chef Mark Greenaway of The Gentlemen Baristas/The Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh went ahead, plus highlights on suppliers to the architecture and garden design industry including artist Charlie Roper of Charles Roper Studios and company founder Anthony Gallagher of landscaping company, Easigrass. I had a private view of Rob & Nick’s art gallery in Notting Hill and a private tour by Cartier jewellery M.D. Laurent Feniou of the new ‘Panthere’ Gallery in Harrods just before the second lockdown in London. I’m using the fabulous Valmont skincare from the spa at ‘Le Meurice‘ in Paris, and I’m currently trying ‘Starpowa’ vitamins to support my nail growth – oh, and on the subject of health and beauty, I thoroughly recommend ‘The Nail Boutique’ in Chelsea Farmer’s Market in London SW3 for a relaxing shellac mani/pedi!

In Paris, I reviewed palace hotels ‘Le Meurice‘ and ‘Plaza Athenee’ and tried-and-tested the desserts of celebrity patisserie chefs Cedric Grolet and Angelo Musa; in London, I tested the ‘Sushi Cupcake’ takeaway service of chef Alessandro Verdenelli, met up with Vincent Menager, global concept chef at ‘STK’, to try pescatarian dishes from his upcoming menu, and reviewed the cuisine of executive chef Jamie Shears at Wolfgang Puck’s ‘CUT’ restaurant…

Now, taking all aspects of setting up the shoots, reviews, and their publication into consideration, I’ve decided to pare right back, gradually transitioning the magazine format of this site to more of a personal blog concept, as NICKY SUMMER LIFESTYLE, therefore allowing me to personally update the pages almost immediately and keep the content more relevant to what is happening moment-by-moment; everything you read here will be based on my very own personal experience and crafted specially for you. Thank you for taking an interest in the content published here; in the words of the singer Sia (below) let’s be ‘UNSTOPPABLE’! Wishing you continued good health and happiness.

All the very best,

Nicky Summer
