Wulf & Lamb is everything you’d want on a cold, grey winter’s day… I walked up to the restaurant through Hyde Park from Chelsea as I needed a breath of fresh air after New Year celebrations, underestimated the time it would take and also the freezing conditions, so by the time I arrived at Chiltern Street I was cold and feeling a shadow of my former self. Luckily, the entire ambience at Wulf & Lamb is extremely warm and welcoming – from the greeting by staff member Asia, through to the lighting and the deep velvet banquette I was seated on. I was already familiar with the sister restaurant in Pavilion Road, SW3, but hadn’t had the opportunity to visit the recently opened branch in Chiltern Street, one of my favourite quaint shopping destinations in London due to it being the location of some of the world’s most unique perfumers, lingerie shops, hairdressers and boutique designer outlets…
The design of the restaurant space is contemporary, decorated in relaxing pastel hues of pale green, lavender and pink; there are modern art pieces dotted around the room, plus large exotic plant installations – ‘chic’ is the word I’d use to describe it. I was craving some of the raw vegetarian cuisine that Wulf & Lamb specialises in, but was also swayed by other tempting dishes on the fantastic menu – bao buns stuffed with fillings of vegetarian chilli and aubergine with sticky sauce, cauliflower tempura with a soy based dipping sauce, vegan crispy sushi with a delicious creamy topping, a colourful tex-mex salad (which I took in a box ‘to-go’) with two incredible condiment dressings…
Before I ordered the food, I was brought a bottle of BELU mineral water, then one of the best Virgin Mary cocktails I’ve ever had; the various courses were filling and tasted clean, vitamin-packed and nutritious – I felt myself reviving a little…
Each of the plant-based dishes were absolutely delicious and presented in a relaxed and friendly manner; just what I needed to start the New Year off on the right foot…
What truly brought me back to life was a scoop of sweet coconut and chocolate chip vegan icecream, then a sensational turmeric latte… the next time I need a nutritional boost, I know where to come!
