C&B: ”Graham, it looks like you’ve positioned your company perfectly to capture the luxury events market – what prompted you to start GBJ Event Hire in the first place?”
GJ: ”I set up GBJ Event Hire because at that time there was a ‘one size fits all’ attitude to furniture hire, as in ‘quantity over quality’, and I knew I could address that by adding a personal design touch and also high quality customer service to the already crowded furniture hire landscape; I wanted to establish my own identity in this industry and create my own brand. With GBJ I’ve been able to form relationships with clients and companies and travel to amazing venues and places around Europe, meeting likeminded creatives…”

C&B: ”How has the business evolved and what profile of clients do you mainly work for?”
GJ: ”Our main client base is made up of production companies and PR consultancies, although wedding planners and direct client enquires are on the increase through Instagram and social media. We’ve recently been working with ‘Whispering Angel’ which then led us on to work alongside Giorgio Armani tennis, Ascot racing and Moet & Chandon…”

GJ: ”We’ve also worked with Aston Martin at the Dorchester Hotel, Bulgari at Selfridges plus the Trinity May Ball at Manchester and Cambridge universities; we regularly supply to Abbey Road Studio and often collaborate with high profile event organisers. We’re best known for supplying small to medium bespoke events but on the larger side we’ve also furnished all 12 galleries at the Saatchi Gallery to accommodate over 1000 guests…”

GJ: ”Sandstone upholstered seating with added detailed furnishings are a sophisticated statement; velvet furnishings have been very popular over the past year, including sofas, chairs and stools which we offer in a variety of colours…”

GJ: ”Cordiale vanilla and bianco bars are perfect for poolside parties and DJ’ing or ‘wow factor’ statement pieces; our new marble-top poseur tables have been taken to events up and down the country this summer, perfect for parties when also paired with our velvet stools…”
