At this time of year when we’re using up our reserves of energy and need to stay healthy despite the onslaught of drinks parties and dinners, a vegetarian diet is one way of supporting the immune system. Recently I was invited to try the Christmas menu at WULF & LAMB in Pavilion Road… I’d seen their special ‘Beet Wellington’ on Instagram and the whole plate looked like any traditional lunch but in healthy meat-free style… and absolutely delicious. On arrival, hoping for something slightly medicinal like a hot toddy, I selected an ‘Old Fashioned’ cocktail from the menu – it was served cold but was extremely effective! The menu is international with pasta, gyoza, chilli and guacamole on the list of starters and mains. The guacamole is chunky and comes with lots of toasted garlic bread, the avocado and cucumber green salad is full of avocado and super-healthy wakame; the Christmas lunch plate is just what you’d expect of a traditional meal – with beet taking the place of meat in the ‘Beet Wellington’ and accompanied by roasted vegetables; the chilli (non) carne with cashew sour cream was the best I’ve tasted anywhere; the melting sticky toffee pudding served with vanilla ice-cream for dessert was fabulous.

NOTES: Service was by Florence and was fantastic. I over-ordered so took the remainder of my meal away in a takeaway box to enjoy the following day. You can order vegan cuisine from Wulf & Lamb via Deliveroo. The Chelsea location is convenient for shopping and there are many luxury hotels nearby for those who are visiting London.
