Elysium Event Planning offers lead-up coordination to full planning of the event or wedding. Our clients often choose to combine floral design as well, allowing our service to be deeply involved in creating their special day…”
Lucy Sinclair, Founder, Elysium Event Planning
Lucy Sinclair is a floral designer, venue stylist, and wedding planning service provider based in South East London. She operates her company, Elysium Event Planning, across the UK. Currently, she is engaged in planning a wedding in Sorrento, Italy. Originally inspired by her passion for floristry, Lucy noticed many couples felt overwhelmed and unsure of where to begin their wedding planning journey. This realisation led her to incorporate planning services into her business, catering to couples who require assistance in coordinating their wedding events. Here we discuss venues, cuisine, and floral decor…
C&B: “What would you say are the most unique elements that you incorporate into your wedding designs?”
LS: “I always love to complement a venue, rather than overpower it. I encourage couples to let me help them find the perfect venue that reflects their story and requirements for their day. I love to use fabrics in my designs, offering texture and depth. I use local and English sourced flowers, where possible.

I’ve also partnered with the scent brand, ‘Being’; we provide a sensory experience using candles and diffusers to create lasting memories for the couple’s special day. I then press a collection of florals and send them the scent from their day as an everlasting memory…”

C&B: “Can you share any exceptional venues that your company recommends for special occasions in your area?”
LS: “I highly recommend the Horniman Museum – the venue is a stunning conservatory in the grounds. Other wonderful venues I work in include The Foundling Museum, which has a Georgian manor house feel to it. For a more relaxed vibe, ‘Wild By Tart’ restaurant has a modern feel with lots of plants and the food is wonderful. Another recommendation is Crystal Palace – this is a Victorian design masterpiece with terracotta pillars offering an incredible architecture. Finally, my last venue is a secret small space in Dulwich, it’s called ‘Fabulous 57’. If you’re hosting a small intimate gathering, this space offers a supper club vibe. It’s home to the caterer, Suzanne James, and the space is cosy – almost like you’re in someone’s house…”
C&B: “Talking of food, what role does local cuisine play in your planning?”
LS: “Local cuisine is incredibly important to us, and I always try to work with independent businesses, traditional and seasonal. For the wedding I’m currently planning in Sorrento, Italy, we’ve chosen a caterer that makes everything in-house, including the olive oil from their olive groves and limoncello from lemon trees in their garden! You cannot beat the taste!”

We could easily create the same wedding template over and over again, but the most memorable ones are when you see something nobody else has done! I absolutely love feedback from clients, I’m very luckily to have had brides and corporate clients say wonderful things…”

LS: “Floral decor is also an important element, which flowers do you tend to use during Spring/Summer?”
C&B: “When it comes to florals, I work direct with many of the growers, which means importing as little as possible. For example, using peonies during May and June, then zinnias and dahlias in the late summer. I think flowers are really personal; my clients like us to install either very unusual flowers or the flowers they’ve seen in their own garden when they were growing up…”
C&B: “How do you otherwise help couples personalise their wedding décor?”
LS: “When considering personal wedding décor, it’s about making sure it’s individual to them; this doesn’t necessarily mean print their names on favours, but thinking outside the box. I often encourage couples to include important personal items in their day, whether it’s their granny’s basket for the card table or a favourite memento to include in their table scapes. Every couple is different and their wedding should reflect them as a couple…”

ELYSIUM EVENTS CLIENT TESTIMONIAL: “The most beautiful blooms! Lucy from Elyssium Events absolutely smashed our flowers for our wedding in London. Not only was the execution phenomenal but her service from start to finish was outstanding. She really understood the brief and came back with ideas and flourishes for the areas inside and out to provide us with plenty of ideas on how to bring beautiful pops of colour to the venue. Communication was brilliant and the drop offs/ installation on the day went beyond smoothly. Saving the best note to last – the bouquets!! Oh my, I was flabbergasted by how incredible they turned out, the bouquets were truly other worldly and fully encapsulated the fun vibrant theme of the wedding. I cannot thank Lucy enough for her hard work and dedication to bring the vibrant vision to life, I would recommend her to everyone!”
