Choosing a photographer is about trust and connection; I believe that photography is not only about capturing how a wedding looks but also how it feels… every couple has a story, and it’s a privilege to transform their moments into lasting memories on Lake Como…”
Eros Pradal, Photographer, Lake Como, Italy
Living and working amidst the breathtaking landscape of Lake Como, Italy, Eros Pradal is a respected wedding photographer who specialises in capturing the essence of love and celebration in one of the most picturesque locations in the world. With an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, Eros transforms precious moments into timeless works of art. Here we discuss his philosophy and the most stunning venues in the area…
C&B: “Eros, you are based in what is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas of the world – what first inspired you to pursue a career in wedding photography?”
EP: “What drew me to wedding photography was the human connection – the honest emotions, the intimacy, and the fleeting moments that reveal so much about love and relationships. Weddings are filled with energy and authenticity, and being able to capture those real, unfiltered emotions is what continues to inspire me every single time…”

My work focuses on documenting elegant and emotional weddings for couples who travel from all over the world to celebrate in this extraordinary setting. My background in portrait and documentary photography deeply influences my approach – my goal is always to create images that feel both natural and timeless, full of emotion and atmosphere.

C&B: “How would you describe your photographic style, and how has it evolved?”
EP: “I’d describe my style as a blend of documentary storytelling and refined editorial elegance. I aim to create photographs that are spontaneous and emotional, yet visually polished. Over the years, my work has evolved toward simplicity – focusing more on the interplay of light, gestures, and atmosphere, and less on anything overly staged…”
C&B: “What makes a wedding photograph truly successful, in your opinion?”
EP: “It’s a combination of emotion, light, and composition. A successful image isn’t just technically perfect – it tells a story and evokes a feeling. When couples look at their photos years later, they should be transported back to that exact moment, to how it felt. That’s the magic of a great photograph…”

Every love story is different, so I approach each wedding with fresh eyes. I observe the energy between the couple, the way they look at each other, the small gestures that define their connection. My aim is to capture their day in a way that feels deeply personal and true to them – not just beautiful, but meaningful…”

C&B: “That is so true! How do you make couples feel totally relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera?”
EP: “Connection is everything. Before the wedding, I take time to understand who my couples are – their personalities, what makes them laugh, how they interact. On the day itself, I create a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I encourage them to simply be themselves, to enjoy the moment. The best photographs happen when they forget the camera exists…”
C&B: “Can you share the most memorable experience from a wedding you’ve photographed?”
EP: “One that always stays with me is a small sunset ceremony on a terrace overlooking Lake Como. As the couple exchanged vows, the entire lake seemed to glow – the water reflected the warm golden light, and there was this perfect stillness in the air. It felt like time paused for them. Moments like that remind me why I love this work so much…”

Details are what complete the story. The way a dress moves, the touch of a hand, the reflection of light in a glass—these are the quiet moments that make each wedding unique. They might go unnoticed on the day, but they carry so much emotion when you look back…”

C&B: “What advice would you give couples preparing for their wedding photos?”
EP: “Trust your photographer and be present. The most beautiful photographs come from real emotions, not poses. Also, think about light when planning your schedule – sunset on Lake Como is incredibly special. That golden hour creates an atmosphere that feels both cinematic and intimate…”
C&B: “How do you choose particular locations for the portrait images?”
EP: “For me, light always comes first. The location should complement the couple and their story, not distract from it. Lake Como offers endless beauty – from elegant villas and lush gardens to serene lakeside paths – however, I always look for places that feel intimate, where emotion and landscape come together naturally…”

My work is a balance between authenticity and artistry, and the goal is to create images that feel real, emotional, and beautifully refined. I don’t just document weddings – I craft visual stories that couples can treasure forever, full of atmosphere and emotion…”

C&B: “Which of the amazing Lake Como venues are your personal favourites, and why?”
EP: “I have a deep love for Villa del Balbianello, Villa Pizzo, and Villa Erba. Each has its own personality – Balbianello is cinematic and full of romance, Pizzo feels serene and timeless, and Erba offers grandeur and elegance. At the moment, my favourite location is Villa Passalacqua in Moltrasio, a very special location that won also Best Boutique Hotel Award 2025. On Lake Como, there’s also the opportunity to create a romantic photo scene on an iconic classic wooden motorboat, this is beautiful – particularly during sunset. No matter where the photo shoot takes place, the lake’s beauty always adds something truly special…”
