GET THE VIBE: HOW TO STYLE A SUPER-YACHT

Elegant furnishings are mandatory when designing the interior of a super-yacht, and styling with co-ordinating accessories is key to enhancing the ambience of a vessel built-to-order. First, art! All the marine themed pieces seen below are available from Trowbridge, which is where I sourced the mirror-framed coral and ocean life prints for the decor of S/Y Wonderful – seen in a video further down the page. Trowbridge supplies art on all scales – small, medium and large – framed to the specification of the designer…

Flooring is important and choosing rugs that reflect the outdoors elevates the scheme. Rugs by Matthew Wailes (as seen below) are art pieces in themselves and can be made to order for state rooms and living areas…

Sculpture installed on staircases and/or beach club areas give the area identity and an important focal point; this statuesque piece (below) of two wings with etched glass feathers and mounted on a metal frame is titled ‘SOLACE’ and was created by artists Layne Rowe and Ryan Harms…

Sleek and glossy high quality furnishings in nautical colours – such as the desk and cabinets shown below – are available to order from Davidson London…

Fresh flowers and plants don’t fare well at sea due to the salty ocean air; unless they can be replaced very regularly, I’d suggest installing very realistic silk orchids from RVH Floral Design and faux planting and grass from the Easigrass/Easiwall group…

Heavy glass is the best option for objet when the yacht is coursing through the waves; this cigar ashtray above left is available in ocean blue from Objet Luxe…

Whether celebrating the launch of a new vessel or enjoying a day in the beach club on your yacht, Champagne Arlaux is the perfect choice…

Every yacht needs a chef and Alessandro Verdenelli is occasionally available over the summer months to create healthy seafood dishes (as below) for guests to enjoy…

For the upholstering of interior and sundeck areas of S/Y Wonderful (below), I used double-width black and white Sunbrella indoor/outdoor fabric; inside I used monogrammed beach towels and bed linen, mirror-framed prints on an ocean life theme; platinum rimmed black and white flatware and glassware from Harlequin, accessories from Andrew Martin…
