What I value most is being entrusted with life’s most meaningful celebrations. Whether in New York, Italy, or anywhere in the world, our role is to listen, understand what matters most, and create experiences that feel personal, effortless, and unforgettable. That trust is something I never take for granted…”

Cristina Verger leads Cristina Verger Event Planning & Production as its founder and creative director. Her boutique agency curates custom high-end weddings and global celebrations. Based in New York City at 745 Fifth Avenue, the firm also operates a branch in Rome. As a citizen of both the United States and Italy, Cristina seamlessly connects American and European cultures by blending classic Italian warmth with meticulous New York organisation…
C&B: “Cristina, you famously combine American precision with European sensibility. What is one classic European hosting tradition you wish every U.S. couple would adopt?”
CV: “The European tradition of slowing down. Meals linger, conversations unfold naturally, and guests are encouraged to truly enjoy one another. To me, the greatest luxury isn’t extravagance – it’s giving people the gift of time together…”

I could never choose just one favourite place for a wedding ceremony as I’ve been fortunate to work in extraordinary destinations; the backdrop is never something we create, and it’s something we respect. The most memorable ceremonies happen when the design enhances the existing landscape, allowing nature, architecture, and emotion to take centre stage…”

C&B: “Your company has a strong reputation for believing in understated elegance over flashiness; how do you bring that luxury to outdoor celebrations?”
CV: “The answer is simple: details. Every chair, fabric, flower, handwritten menu, and table setting is carefully considered. Natural light is equally important. Understanding where the sun will be throughout the celebration influences everything—from the ceremony orientation to the timing of cocktails. The goal is for every detail to feel effortless, even though every one has been thoughtfully planned…”

I think the future belongs to destinations that offer authenticity rather than popularity. Portugal continues to gain momentum, while Italy still has wonderful discoveries like Ischia, where guests enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean without the crowds. In the U.S., luxury ranches in Wyoming are redefining destination weddings with spectacular landscapes, farm-to-table cuisine, and exceptional hospitality…”

C&B: “How do you transition an outdoor celebration from daylight into a magical summer evening?”
CV: “Lighting is one of the most important elements of design. It should never simply turn on after sunset—it should quietly emerge. As the natural light fades, candles, architectural lighting, and carefully layered illumination gradually reveal themselves. It’s a dance between nature and design, creating a transition guests feel without ever consciously noticing…”

I spent my earliest years living in my family’s hotel, so hospitality wasn’t simply our business – it was our way of life. Guests were welcomed as though they were entering our home. Later, my career in New York luxury hotels refined that instinct with discipline and precision. Today, every guest should leave feeling genuinely cared for…”

C&B: “If you could plan the ultimate no-budget summer soirée, who would be on the guest list and where would you host it?”
CV: “I wouldn’t focus on celebrity, as some may do. I’d rather invite artists, architects, musicians, chefs, hoteliers, writers, and innovators – people who inspire meaningful conversation. The setting could be a historic Mediterranean villa or a luxury ranch beneath Wyoming’s Big Sky. After a long dinner featuring local cuisine and exceptional wines, the celebration would naturally evolve into music, handcrafted cocktails, and dancing beneath the stars….”
C&B: “On that subject, do you have a favourite summer-inspired menu item or signature cocktail?”
CV: “I don’t believe in one signature menu; I prefer to let the destination lead the experience. Whether it’s fresh seafood on the Amalfi Coast, estate wines in Tuscany, or farm-to-table cuisine at a Wyoming ranch, guests should leave feeling they truly experienced the place they visited…”
C&B: “Finally, Cristina, what’s the most rewarding thing a client can say to you at the end of a successful event that you’ve planned?”
CV: “One father quietly took my hand at the end of his daughter’s wedding, kissed it, and said, “You made my daughter a queen for a day.” Another bride looked around her family’s Park Avenue home and said, “I never thought my house could be like this.” And hearing, “You exceeded our expectations,” will always be the greatest compliment…”
