Getting married in the Autumn is truly a magical time, along with the abundance of colour and texture, there is the autumn light, which is so different to any other time of year…”

Jemma Khan of Jemma Khan Studio, is a luxury wedding and events florist based in the north of England, but covering the whole of the UK. Jemma mainly supplied florals for wedding and brand events and was named ‘Loverly’ top florist both 2025 and 2026; she describes her style as natural, abundant and sophisticated…
C&B: “Jemma, your installations are gorgeous. What is the general profile of your client?”
JK: “My typical client is looking for a multi-day wedding and has ties to the countryside, either now or through their childhood. They will likely want to get married at a heritage home, on their own private estate, or in a marquee. They are not interested in passing trends; instead, they want a modern traditional style, abundant florals and foliage, and classic design. They are deeply interested in British heritage, and we often work with American clients who love the idea of an English country wedding…”
C&B: “Which planners or major names do you work with or collaborate with? Are there any names on your wish list?”
JK: “I currently collaborate with planners such as Jessica Sharpe, Freya Croisdale, and Corrie from Soirée Studio, and aspire to work alongside industry names like Susie Evans, Katrina Otter, Susannah Parker, and Jen from Raspberry Bespoke Events…”

Autumn for me is all about texture and layering. Autumn’s turning foliage is a delight, so beech is fabulous for creating large installations, along with rose hips and berries. We incorporate other elements as well, such as artichokes, apples, pears, and conkers. Flower-wise, hydrangeas are really at their very best right now; they have completely changed colour from the summer, and they are much hardier as well. You can get some incredible reds, greens, and blues. October sees the end of dahlias, and then we are into chrysanthemums, not your run-of-the-mill ones, mind you!”

C&B: “You live in the most beautiful, rugged area. Where do you find your greatest design inspiration?”
JK: “Through nature, walking in the woods, and seeing seasonal colours and shapes, the forms of trees and shrubs are where I take inspiration for my larger installations. I try to replicate these through my work so that we can truly transform a space and bring the outside in. For me, it should look like it has always been there…”

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of working in some the most iconic places in the UK including Chatsworth House and The Savoy and Exton park. The venue I just love to transform though is Birdsall House deep in the North Yorkshire countryside…”

C&B: “What would you say is the most rewarding part of your company bringing a couple’s floral dreams to life?”
JK: “It’s knowing I have brought their vision to life and exceeded their expectations. I adore working with my clients, listening to their stories, and reflecting their personalities through the floral décor. Often, we work together for over a year and really get to know one another; their experience throughout the whole journey is just as important as the flowers themselves…”
