FASHION EVENTS: HOUSE OF VERVE

I believe we’re entering an incredibly exciting era for events. Clients no longer want beautiful spaces alone, they want experiences that make people feel something. The most successful events combine creativity, storytelling and human connection in a way that’s authentic and memorable. That’s what drives everything we do at House of Verve, and it’s what continues to inspire me every day…”

C&B: “Debbie, your company name keeps popping up everywhere; which areas do you cover across England and Europe?”

DM: “We’re based in Manchester but design and produce events throughout the UK and internationally. Our work regularly takes us to London and the Home Counties, and our destination work is growing across Europe and beyond. I’m very much looking forward to partnering with planners in Europe next year to bring creative decor to their events…”

Fashion is one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I often look to couture collections, editorials, runway shows and luxury campaigns long before I begin designing an event. Fashion constantly pushes creative boundaries through colour, texture, silhouette and craftsmanship, and those same principles translate beautifully into immersive event design. I love taking inspiration from the world of fashion and reimagining it within a three-dimensional environment…

C&B: “What profile of client is particularly drawn to your service, and what do they require?”

DM: “Our clients tend to be luxury event planners, event agencies, creatives, and brands who want something completely bespoke/unique for their events. They value creativity, attention to detail, and exceptional execution, and they’re looking for an experience that feels unique rather than following trends. We work with luxury private clients, global brands, hotels, venues, and event agencies who want to create something truly memorable. Often, creatives come to us with a crazy idea they have developed but need a reliable company to execute it for them – we are geared up for exactly that, and if they need a team to develop an idea, we’ll work with it to take it to the next level…”

C&B: “What do you envision when you think of Italian fashion events, which tend to be the epitome of style extravagance – taking Dolce & Gabbana as an example?”

DM: “I immediately think of bold colours and patterns with an unapologetic Italian glamour. It’s bold, confident and luxurious, but it also feels incredibly joyful and full of life with a Sicilian influence. For an event on that theme, I’d take inspiration from D&G’s unmistakable design language and create a bespoke interpretation that’s unique to the client. I’d start by designing our own bold, signature print inspired by the vibrant patterns and rich colour palettes associated with Italian luxury, then weave that motif throughout every element of the event to create a cohesive visual identity. I’d make it personal to my client, so it may include one of their favourite colours, or a pattern from one of their favourite buildings or artwork. From there, I’d layer in elegant Italian influences such as handcrafted ceramics, citrus trees, olive branches, abundant florals, warm Mediterranean textures, luxurious linens and statement tablescapes. The bespoke print could feature across invitations, dance floors, bars, menus, fabrics, signage and even custom-built installations, ensuring every detail feels intentional and connected. The result wouldn’t be a themed party, it would be an immersive, sophisticated celebration that captures the spirit of Italian glamour while feeling completely original and exclusive to the client. I don’t know about you… but now you’ve got me thinking, I really want to bring this to life!”

Going into 2027 we’re seeing a move towards florals that feel more natural, sculptural and artistic. Rather than perfectly symmetrical arrangements, we’re embracing movement, texture and depth. Layered seasonal blooms, interesting foliage, foraged elements and statement installations create designs that feel organic yet luxurious. Sustainability is also playing a much bigger role, with many clients choosing high-quality silk florals or reusable installations alongside fresh flowers…”

C&B: “So much goes into producing any event – which elements do you believe are most crucial when creating a fashion-inspired occasion?”

DM: “As a full service design agency and decor fabrication partner for planners, the most crucial parts are the elements that design a story about the event and seamlessly work together. From the lighting, I’d love to incorporate some pixel mapping. The stage finishing details will be essential, the set design and custom bespoke builds from photo opportunities to unique create elements, custom furniture and printed drapery. We focus on creating layers of visual impact while ensuring the experience feels effortless, allowing every photograph and every guest interaction to become part of the story…”

C&B: “Debbie, given free rein, what would be your dream fashion-related project?”

DM: “I’d love to collaborate with a luxury fashion house to design an immersive brand experience that blurs the lines between retail, hospitality and live events. Creating a space where guests don’t simply attend an event but step inside the brand’s world would be an incredible opportunity. Bringing a campaign to life through physical experiences is where I believe the future of luxury brand engagement lies. Creating an Dolce & Gabbana inspired immersive shopping experience is definitely at the top of my bucket list…”
