Every wedding we produce is planned with care, love, and a passion for designing an experience that will never be forgotten. We take pride in streamlining the planning process as much as possible and making it enjoyable for our couples so that they can relax and fully enjoy the celebration with their loved ones and friends. Our purpose is to create a wedding that is not just beautiful and luxurious but also a true reflection of the couple’s personality and dreams…”

Kathrine Brenne, Founder, Amore Wedding Italy

Kathrine Brenne is the founder of Amore Wedding Italy, a wedding planning company based near Rome, Italy, which she runs together with her husband, Stefano Di Cicco. In this interview, we discuss destinations, current trends, and the logistics of organising a wedding under the Italian sun…

C&B: “You are operating in one of the most beautiful countries in the world – a magnet for couples planning their weddings. What factors do you consider most when recommending a particular destination to a couple?”

KB: “When proposing an Italian destination wedding, we first consider making the experience uniquely personal to each of the couples. We consider their style and vision, budget, as well as their guests’ convenience. We also think about the time of year, the local logistics, and legislation. Above all, we desire unique experiences and beautiful environments that will make their wedding party truly unforgettable…”

C&B: “Which are your favourite venues and locations around Italy, and why?”

KB: “There are so many beautiful venues and locations to choose from, it’s hard to narrow it down to a mere few! Each place has its own unique character and atmosphere, from picturesque beachfront areas to opulent historic villas and charming country estates. What we love most is discovering the perfect venue that matches the dream and style of the couple and putting it all together to produce a celebration that feels really one-of-a-kind and unforgettable…”

C&B: “How do you approach creating a unique wedding experience that reflects the couple’s personal style?”

KB: “We begin designing a one-of-a-kind wedding experience by first determining the couple’s vision, style, and interests. We then move on to choosing venues, décor, and activities that resonate with them. From flowers and lighting to music and elements of local personality, each detail is thoroughly selected to ensure the wedding not only feels authentic to who they are but also truly unforgettable. Our goal is always to create a wedding that is uniquely authentic to the couple…”

A destination wedding weekend fantasy is comprised of a mix of activity and downtime: a welcome event, potential pre-wedding excursions, the ceremony and reception, and a post-wedding brunch or send-off event. Considerate planning enables the guests to relax, enjoy themselves, and participate fully in the celebrations…”

C&B: “Once you have the venue booked, what is your process for selecting and vetting vendors in that location?”

KB: “Our screening process for selecting vendors and suppliers at destination locations is thorough and tailored to each couple. We begin by researching and identifying reputable, experienced vendors whose styles align with the couple’s concept. We contact them directly, inspect their portfolios, and check references to ensure quality and reliability. Wherever possible, we personally visit the vendors and venues to assess their services firsthand. Our vision is to build a network of expert local professionals who can deliver an unrivalled and flawless wedding experience…”

C&B: “What are the most common legal considerations couples should be aware of when planning a wedding abroad?”

KB: “Couples getting married abroad must find out in advance some basic legal requirements, i.e., documents needed (passports, birth certificates, etc.), translations or legislations, laws concerning the wedding locally, and residency or witness requirements. Preparing these in advance facilitates the celebration and ensures compliance with the law…”

C&B: “How far in advance do you recommend starting the planning process for an Italian wedding?”

KB: “For a luxury destination wedding, we normally recommend starting the planning process at least 12 to 18 months in advance. This provides us with sufficient time to secure the best venues, vendors, and accommodations, as well as to make arrangements for the couple’s and guests’ travel. Early planning also affords us the latitude to craft an entirely personalised and flawless experience, with each and every detail meticulously planned…”

Currently, we’re seeing a number of hot trends in destination weddings. Romantic, elegant garden and beach settings are always in vogue..”

C&B: “What role do cultural and local customs play in your planning process?”

KB: “Local and cultural traditions are an important component of our destination wedding planning. We take careful note of customs, etiquette, and local traditions so that the celebration is flawless, respectful, and authentic. These aspects may be applied to enhance the overall experience, with meaningful embellishments that honour the destination without compromising the couple’s personality…”

C&B: “How do you approach the design and aesthetics of a wedding in a unique landscape or venue?”

KB: “We plan the wedding by initially considering the natural scenery and architecture of the location.  We enhance and augment the environment and we don’t attempt to dominate it. We carefully select colour, decor, light, and flowers that work well in the space and create a harmonious, visually appealing experience. Everything is thoughtfully combined to honour the character of the venue and infuse the couple’s personal sense of style…”

C&B: “Are there any particular themes that you’re currently seeing in luxury destination weddings?”

KB: “Yes, there’s an emerging focus on individual, experiential weddings with the integration of local food, culture, and traditions. Clean and minimalist contemporary designs in soft colour palettes remain on the rise, as do small, boutique wedding ceremonies with bespoke pieces and experiential elements for guests. In general, the aim is to plan a party that not only has that luxurious feeling but is also decidedly personal…”
