My favourite flower is the rose, although that may sound predictable – however, sometimes simplicity is all you need! My daughter’s middle name is Rose, and I also find that quite symbolic. If you think about it, a rose begins closed tight with many layers, where anyone might walk past and think nothing of it. Then, when nurtured and placed in the correct environment, all of a sudden, it opens into a beautiful flower and it’s allowed to show its true beauty. You could say this concept also applies to people…”

Kelly Louise is the founder of an East Cheshire-based family-run luxury floristry business that conducts the majority of its projects in the immediate area. The brand is well known for eye-catching floral installations on residences, retail units, at events, and weddings. Here we discuss how Kelly started her career, the unique services the company offers its clients, and the flowers to choose for Spring:
C&B: “Kelly, in the lead-up to the Chelsea Flower Show, we’d like to extend our congratulations on Kelly Louise Floral Artistry being named one of the CITY & BEACH TOP 10 FLORAL DESIGNERS OF 2025! We adore your installations; they’re not only beautiful but, in many cases, also convey a fun sense of humour. What inspired you to choose floral design as a career?
KL: “Becoming a florist was never at the fore-front of my mind; as a child I had always been a creative, I was never really a book worm, and I found I excelled more at the arts, such as drama and art, when I was at school. Then when I was fifteen I came across an advertisement for a Saturday job working in a flower shop, I applied, got it, and from there I fell in love with flowers and the rest is history…”

I’d class myself as strong minded, and a determined lover of all things luxury. I’ve always been hardworking, an individual rather than a ‘barcode’. Mirroring society has never been for me as I prefer to project my own identity through my work. In my opinion, it’s better to make a statement rather than being too discreet…”

C&B: “Having your Saturday job that led to you falling in love with flowers was a great start! Do you still work from a shop or do you have a warehouse for larger projects – how does it work?”
KL: “With Kelly Louise Floral Artistry being primarily an events business, we work from a warehouse filled floor-to-ceiling with everything from tea light holders to a space monkey!”
C&B: “Your service sounds like it’s very unique! How would you say your service differs from others in your area?”
KL: “Our service focuses on a bespoke service, each item handcrafted individually for each client. Rather than having a catalogue or a package we design to a clients specific needs and preferences. We also pride ourselves on being a fresh floral business as over the past couple of years lots of artificial flowers have made way into the wedding industry. We feel that fresh florals are now classed as a luxury and we are extremely grateful for having maintained our loyal client base and also consistently attract new clients…”

One of our strengths is being a family-run business, as we offer a very personal service from start to finish. My husband, David, has his own import and export business in the flower industry, from which I order my flowers; he has over thirty-five years of experience, so he’s always on hand for advice. My daughter works both in the office and onsite, like myself, and she handles a wedding or event from start to finish, allowing us to develop a close relationship with the client…”

C&B: “Do you find yourself attracting more wedding projects, or is it events that you specialise in?”
KL: “We’re primarily a wedding florist as we love wedding as they’re one of the most important days of people’s lives as well as one of their most expensive! However, over the last few years we’ve ventured into events and parties – these are absolutely brilliant as each day at work is never the same. During the festive season, we also supply decor and props, which is the latest edition to our business, creating magical extravagant productions to decorate our clients homes…”
C&B: “At this time of year when it can still be quite cold in the UK, which flowers do you find are most popular with your clients?”
KL: “During the spring and early summer months we primarily use roses, hydrangeas, delphiniums, with touches of foliage as these lend a very elegant look…”

Each arrangement we produce is bespoke to the client, as every client has different preferences in terms of colour scheme. It is very rare to find two people who like exactly the same things. I would say our most requested arrangement at the moment is our large flower balls, which we display in vases, as these add an impactful, elegant, and luxurious look. They also create a multi dimension in the room, minimising any empty space and making the room appear full…”
Kelly Louise, Founder, Kelly Louise Floral Artistry
C&B: “Your flower balls are fabulous – how do you stay inspired, coming up with ideas like these which keep your designs fresh and innovative?”
KL: “We’re always inspired and we’re always innovating as we always like to experiment in the warehouse… sometimes things don’t come out quite as we’d like them to but failure makes for growth. I do think nowadays people are too scared of failure, but what’s the worst that can happen if you don’t get the outcome that you were hoping looking for? My answer: Try again!”
C&B: “That’s a great approach for learning! Talking of innovation and trying new things; what role does sustainability play in your floral design practices?”
KL: “We consistently try to stay as carbon neutral as possible by using locally sourced flowers such as dahlias and eucalyptus sourced from a lady in East Cheshire. We also only order flowers in season at the time of a wedding to reduce the carbon footprint. For example, if we were to order peonies in December we’d have to import them from New Zealand which would have a detrimental effect on the atmosphere if we’re to do this consistently. Additionally, all our flower waste goes directly to a farm which runs off floral waste for bio fuel which helps our carbon footprint. We also try to aim for a reduced amount of deliveries, so we order in bulk to reduce emissions. Also, as previously mentioned, we have multiple props and these can be repurposed rather than having ‘one time use’ items. We are always conscious of planning and preparation – whether they be planning trips to reduce mileage or flower choices we’re always make a conscientious effort to keep a low carbon footprint…”

We’ve been in featured the press many times and we also had a slot on Channel 4’s ‘Billionaire Blooms’…”
Kelly Louise, Founder, Kelly Louise Floral Artistry
C&B: “Kelly, that’s remarkable conscientious! I think you must be amongst the most thoughtful brands we’ve ever featured. How do you relax away from work?”
KL: “In my spare time, I like to spend with my daughter, husband, mother-in-law and our three lovely dogs. We are always all so busy, and every second we get with each other should be cherished. I love long walks, and also love the gym, taking Pilates classes – and I love a good ‘self-care day’ when I maintain my hair and nails. And I also love a cheeky shopping trip!”
