David Beahm, David Beahm Experiences
David Beahm built his name in New York as the founder of David Beahm Experiences, a design and production studio that creates and produces celebratory life experiences, weddings, and corporate events internationally. From the studio’s base on West 20th Street in Chelsea, David and his team have spent decades shaping the look and feel of some of the most talked-about celebrations on either side of the Atlantic.
The David Beahm Experiences client list reads like a cross-section of the world’s most photographed people. Among the highlights: Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ wedding, alongside a long run of work for celebrity and Fortune 500 clients. The studio’s signature is immersive floral and structural design – rooms transformed wall to ceiling, often with custom ironwork, painted murals and food styling layered in alongside the flowers. The work spans iron working to floral artistry, painting murals to food styling, pulling in a roster of in-house and freelance professional artists to bring each concept to life…
What sets David Beahm apart from the typical Manhattan event circuit is the second life he leads outside the city. He splits his time between NYC and the Shenandoah Valley, where he keeps Thistle Dew Farm in Quakertown, Pennsylvania – a working property where he grows wildflowers, production flowers, herbs and vegetables. It’s an unusual rhythm for someone whose day job involves transforming ballrooms into fantasy landscapes: city events one week, soil under his nails the next. His Instagram bio nods to both halves of that life, describing him simply as an event designer in NYC and the Shenandoah Valley, usually with his dog Jim Beahm in tow.
The farm isn’t just a retreat – it feeds directly back into the events projects. Flowers grown at Thistle Dew often end up in the arrangements David’s team builds for clients, closing the loop between his rural life and his urban one. It’s a model that’s increasingly rare in an industry built on overnight flower markets and last-minute sourcing, and it gives his events a sense of provenance that’s impossible to manufacture.
David’s approach rests on the idea that every event is as unique and different as the people who host them, and that no two celebrations are ever the same. For a studio operating at the top end of the New York market – where repeat clients often want their next event to outdo the last – that philosophy keeps the work from becoming formulaic.
For City & Beach Lifestyle readers planning their own milestone events, David Beahm’s career is a useful case study in what separates a good planner from a great one: range. The ability to move between a corporate gala, a Bar Mitzvah and a multi-day destination wedding, while keeping a distinct design signature across all three, is a rare quality indeed…
