My emphasis is on authentic, emotional storytelling. For me, every wedding is more than just a job. I don’t only invest my time, but also a part of my soul into the preparation, execution, and post-production. I intentionally take on a limited number of weddings per year so I can prepare thoroughly and give each couple the attention they deserve…”

Anna Olefir is a destination wedding photographer located in Frankfurt, Germany, specialising in capturing unforgettable moments across Europe and beyond. Her journey into photography began with a deep passion for storytelling and a commitment to creating lasting memories. Anna believes that the recollections of one of the most significant days in people’s lives should be both personal and authentic. She genuinely enjoys getting to know her clients and hearing their unique stories, from how they met to the details of their proposals. Each narrative offers a fresh perspective, and the opportunity to craft something truly one of a kind for each couple is what inspires her the most…
C&B: “Anna, how would you describe your photographic style, and how would you say has it evolved over the years?”
AO: “I would describe my style as candid with a touch of fashion. Over the past two years, I’ve consciously evolved my approach, moving away from posed moments and focusing more on genuine, unfiltered emotions. For me, ‘candid with a fashion touch’ means capturing moments as they naturally unfold, without interference. I observe, work quietly in the background, and let situations happen – while bringing a strong sense of composition, style, and modern aesthetics into every image…”

My advice to my couples is to relax and enjoy the moment – just the two of you. The photo session is often the only time during the day when the couple can be alone together. Be prepared, but most importantly, enjoy it. Those moments of pure emotion are exactly what I’m looking for in my images…”

C&B: “In your opinion, what are the essential elements that contribute to a successful wedding photograph?”
AO: “The chemistry between the couple and the pure, authentic emotions of their guests. When a couple’s main goal is to truly celebrate their day with their loved ones – instead of worrying about every single detail – the result is always a unique and powerful gallery…”
C&B: “How do you build rapport with your couples to make sure they’ll be comfortable in front of the camera?”
AO: “I usually speak with my couples two to three times before the wedding. It’s important for me to understand their vision and expectations so I can create the most comfortable atmosphere – not only for the photos, but for the entire day. I also prepare a mood board for them and go through it together about two weeks before the wedding. This way, they know my vision for the couple session, bridal morning, and overall aesthetic, and we can align on the style together…”

I take the time to truly get to know my couples so understand what matters most to them and which moments they value the most. Based on that, I know where to focus my attention and how the shoot should be structured. Details play a huge role in storytelling, which is why I always make sure the final gallery includes many personal elements…”

C&B: “Could you share a memorable experience you’ve had while photographing a wedding?”
AO: “One of my most memorable weddings took place in Italy. The celebration was full of energy from the very beginning of the day until late at night. The atmosphere was incredible – the couple was fully present, enjoying every moment and truly understanding what the day was about. Since then, I strongly believe that every wedding should be celebrated exactly like that…”
C&B: “Can you discuss the importance of details and how you incorporate them into your work?”
AO: “Details are essential to the uniqueness of each story. They help reflect the couple’s personality, values, and atmosphere of the day. I consciously look for these moments and elements and make sure they are thoughtfully included in the final narrative…”

I always tell my couples: a wedding is not about perfection, other people’s expectations, or pleasing everyone else – wedding is about celebrating love. So enjoy the day, and celebrate it properly…”

C&B: “You have worked at many beautiful venues, which are your favourites and how do choose the perfect spot for the images?”
AO: “Yes – they include Villa Balbiano (Lake Como, Italy), Castello di Rocca (Italy), La Foce (Italy), Solar da Levada (Portugal), and Villa di Geggiano (Italy). I always explore what each venue has to offer, and I plan the portrait session accordingly, usually taking all the photographs around the wedding location itself, as I know couples would rather spend that time with their guests and enjoy their day…”
