PEARL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

The first thing to do when we arrive at a location is to scout the best shooting places. We look for clean and artful areas, search for the perfect light, and remain vigilant for unconventional yet beautiful details. Our favourite wedding venues include Castello di Celsa, Pestana Palace, Chateau Challain, Green Events, and our dream location: Isola del Garda…”

Pearl Wedding Photography is a photography studio located in Frankfurt, Germany, founded by the creative duo Peter and Caroline (Caro). They specialise in capturing the essence of weddings by blending romantic moments with a clean, editorial aesthetic that sets their work apart.

C&B: “What first inspired you as a couple to pursue a career in wedding photography?”

P&C: “Caro has always tried to view life like a rom-com, love at first sight, and in all the small gestures, such as a bouquet of flowers or a love poem. It inspired her to capture those moments for a lifetime, which led her to wedding photography. Peter loves perfect lines and using flash, so naturally he creates pictures with an editorial character…”

Details can create a personal aesthetic and express the relationship of a couple. By embodying their personality, these elements support the central motif and can sometimes serve as a motif themselves. As a team, we dedicate our time to focusing on the little things at every wedding, ensuring that every detail resonates with the couple’s unique vision and story…”

C&B: “How do you believe the dynamic of your own relationship supports your work?”

P&C: “We believe it is our mixture of our personalities. Whilst Caroline sees the complete world like a romcom and searches for those romantic moments and deep emotions, Peter uses flash to photograph those epic editorial shots. Furthermore, we wish to create pictures that feel like they are from a movie, capturing moments between the guests, the love between the groom and bride, and, of course, the story in between. It is the combination that enables us to create our romantic editorial.”

C&B: “You describe your photographic style as ‘editorial’; how has this aesthetic evolved over the years?”

P&C: “We started by trying to create epic shots that screamed, but quickly learned that we love moments full of romance and quiet intimacy. We started concentrating on this vision and created our unique style by incorporating fashion. Now we produce warm and romantic moments that are captured through a mixture of candid and editorial images…”

The best pictures result when the couple is comfortable with the photographer and knows their style fits their expectations. A trusting relationship is the foundation of a fantastic gallery…”

C&B: “Taking romantic images obviously requires good rapport – how do you build that with your couples so as to make them comfortable in front of the camera?”

P&C: “We start with a video call, where we start to get to know our couples. With every couple we first arrange an engagement shoot, so that they get to know our work and start to feel comfortable in front of our cameras. During the shoot we don’t only direct the poses, we also demonstrate to them what we mean. Most of our poses are made during actual movements, so that they feel more natural…”

Each couple has their own personality, and to ensure that the images reflect their unique story, we create mood boards together with them before the wedding and discuss more than just the wedding; we also engage in conversations about their relationship and experiences…”

C&B: “What tips do you have for couples to help them prepare for their wedding photos?”

P&C: “During the preparation for their wedding, we create mood-boards together with the couple, to clarify their wishes and expectations for their wedding. During the shoot, we don’t want them to think about perfection but rather to concentrate on their moment with their fiancé. It’s the moment after the pose that we actually photograph, the short smile, the honest laughter or a small glance full of love…”
