Serafina is an international event planner based in Ibiza who specialises in sophisticated weddings, luxury wedding weekends, and exquisite celebrations both on the island and beyond. In this discussion, we meet the founder of Serafina Weddings & Events and explore her passion for creating unforgettable experiences, as well as her insights into the world of event planning…
C&B: “Serafina, how long have you been in the wedding planning business and what first prompted this career based on Ibiza?”
S: “I first started this business six years ago and have always been involved in the events industry – working, for example, for the Olympic Games and Formula 1, as well as organising fashion shows and concerts. I love creating events and bringing my clients’ visions to life. I’m interested in understanding people and what motivates them. Additionally, I’ve always been curious about other cultures and now speak five languages, which allows me to communicate with almost any guests at the events I plan. I’m also passionate about modern, clean, minimalist design and lighting, and I enjoy incorporating these elements into the weddings and birthday parties I organise.”
C&B: “That’s incredible – you sound very accomplished! Did you first have to study or work with another company to gain experience?”
S: “I trained in events through a course in London with Katrina Otter, after that I had a Canadian business coach. I then worked as an assistant at various events including in Moscow and Florence, and I regularly attend educational industry events such as Wedding MBA in Las Vegas and DWP in Zimbabwe. I have a large international network around the globe that includes the best suppliers from Georgia to Saint Tropez. To be honest, I’m still constantly learning about the business and I may not even remember all the courses I took over the years!”

C&B: “What’s your typical client profile and which project do you most like to work on?”
S: “I enjoy working with busy couples who have a lot on their plates in their everyday lives. I take pleasure in helping them eliminate stress and save time on the research and planning of their events. I particularly love collaborating with international couples, as my experience living in different countries allows me to understand the additional complexities that arise when two families come together…”

C&B: “What would you say is the biggest challenge when planning a project on Ibiza?”
S: “Weather is certainly one of those factors; as most of my events take place outdoors, I must always keep in mind and plan for all unexpected situations that nature can bring, such as wind, rain, bugs, and so on.”
I find my work challenging as it requires lots of concentration for long periods of time – I need to remember each and every detail and constantly communicate with every person involved in the event. To relax after an event, I love yoga, pilates, walking in nature and going to a spa…”
