C&B: “Johanna – Ibiza! ‘The White Isle’ – what a beautiful place to live and work; how did it come about that you live here?”
JC: “I was born in Sweden but moved to Antwerp, Belgium, with my family when I was in my early teens. After I finished school, I travelled for a year before going to university in London, and from there I moved to Ibiza. What drew me to the island was its very international community and its enchanting mix of natural beauty, rich culture, and vibrant energy. Ibiza is a place where luxury and laid-back vibes coexist perfectly, making it the ideal location for the kind of bespoke events I create!”

C&B: “How long have you been in the event design business, and what first prompted you to go into this area?”
JC: “I’ve been in the event industry since 2011, so several years now! My journey began with a deep passion for creativity and bringing people together to celebrate life’s most important moments. The idea of transforming a vision into reality with every detail meticulously crafted is what inspired me to enter this field…”
C&B: “Did you have to study or work with someone to gain experience?”
JC: “Yes, my journey involved both formal education and hands-on experience. I studied event management and design, and I had the opportunity to apprentice with some of the best in the business. This blend of learning and real-world experience allowed me to hone my skills and develop a distinct approach that reflects my personal style…”

C&B: “Your amazing collaboration on the wedding of the founder of Restoration Hardware to his bride, arranged along with Colin Cowie – how did that first come about?”
JC: “The collaboration with Colin was a serendipitous meeting of minds; we both share a passion for luxury and perfection, so when the opportunity arose, it felt like a natural fit. While I don’t collaborate in this way for every event, I’m always open to working with like-minded professionals when it adds value to the client’s experience…”

I work across a variety of stunning venues in Ibiza, including private villas, beachfront locations, and exclusive resorts. Most of my preferred venues are privately owned properties, which shall remain closely kept secrets, and of course Six Senses, which is a firm favourite. Each venue offers something special, allowing me to tailor the event to the client’s vision…”

C&B: “Organising an event of any type brings with it all sorts of challenges; what are the types of things you gave to overcome in Ibiza?”
JC: “The biggest challenge is often managing the unpredictable elements, like weather, rain, and wind, especially for outdoor events. However, with thorough planning and having contingency plans in place, we ensure that every event runs smoothly, no matter the circumstances…”
C&B: “What style of decor and menu choices do your clients tend to go for in Ibiza?”
JC: “Clients often gravitate towards décor that blends luxury with the natural beauty of Ibiza – think understated elegance, neutral colours, and Mediterranean-inspired concepts with a focus on local materials and craftsmanship. Menu choices typically feature a fusion of gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, with fresh, local ingredients taking centre stage…”

Sunset scenes and stunning sea views are always popular, creating unforgettable moments that leave a lasting impression…”
C&B: “There are so many elements to event design; are there any that leave you feeling stressed after your project is completed?”
JC: “While the work can be intense, I do find it incredibly rewarding. The key to managing stress in my life is staying organised and surrounding myself with a great team. To relax, I enjoy taking time to connect with the natural beauty of Ibiza – whether that’s a beach day, a hike in the countryside, or simply enjoying a quiet moment at home.”
C&B: “Out of those sectors you’ve just mentioned, who would you most like to work with on an event project?”
JC: “There are so many amazing professionals on my wish list to work with in the future, and I know there will be an opportunity to do so for our amazing weddings coming up in 2025. We have a few large-scale, destination weddings that combine my clients’ heritage with the cultural richness of the Mediterranean… very ‘East-meets-West’ fusion. Collaborating with top-tier designers or artists to bring my clients vision to life is always a dream project!”
