My aesthetic is characterised by elegance, harmony, and restraint. I love projects in which every element is in dialoguewith the others and nothing is included merely to impress. The flowers, lighting, colours, materials, and table setting must create a cohesive whole, capable of evoking emotion without feeling contrived…”

Sara appears on the CITY & BEACH TOP 10 ITALIAN WEDDING PLANNERS 2026 list, an honour extended only to those on our network who have demonstrated exemplary work over the past year. Here we discuss aesthetics, heritage, and inspiration…
C&B: “Sara, firstly, huge congratulations on appearing on the CITY & BEACH TOP 10 ITALIAN WEDDING PLANNERS 2026 list! What first inspired your career and where are most of your weddings staged?”
SM: “My journey in the world of events began even before I became a Wedding Planner. I worked in event planning for many years, including in international settings, and this allowed me to understand that behind an event that appears natural and spontaneous, there are, in fact, method, organisation, interpersonal skills, and extremely precise coordination. As I entered the world of weddings, I realised that I could combine this experience with something that is fundamental to me: human connection. I am fascinated by the opportunity to become part of a couple’s story, understand their sensitivity, and transform their wishes, habits, and personalities into a tangible project. For me, luxury stems precisely from this: from care, from the time devoted, from the quality of the choices, and from the ability to make something simple for the couple that, behind the scenes, requires great organisational complexity…”

My style is founded on understated elegance, never ostentatious. I believe in simplicity as the most authentic form of elegance and in each project’s ability to reflect the couple’s sensitivity, story, and personality. Listening is at the heart of my work: understanding each couple deeply allows me to transform their needs and desires into an experience that truly represents them…”

C&B: “The world of luxury weddings is highly competitive; which project would you say was pivotal in establishing your reputation?”
SM: “One of the most important projects in my career was the wedding of a couple from New York who chose Florence to celebrate their marriage. We designed not only the wedding day, but an entire week during which the guests could discover the city and the surrounding area while enjoying an authentically Italian experience. The journey began with a traditional Florentine dinner and continued with visits to wineries, opportunities to discover the local area, and a pre-wedding party on a terrace overlooking Piazzale Michelangelo. The Catholic ceremony took place in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, one of Florence’s mosticonic landmarks, followed by a reception in a historic frescoedvilla. The final day concluded with a pool party set amid the Tuscan hills. This project represented a significant milestone in my career because it fully embodies my vision of a destination wedding: not a single event, but a journey capable of bringing together the couple’s story and the identity of the location, while leaving guests with memories that extend beyond the wedding day…”

I work mainly in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, regions characterised by an extraordinary heritage of history, landscapes, culture, and hospitality. Upon request, I also assist couples in choosing other Italian destinations, identifying the location that best reflects their story, their style, and the experience they wish to offer their guests…”

C&B: “That sounds absolutely incredible – what a way to see Italy, perhaps for the guests’ first time! How do your Italian roots shape your venues selections?”
SM: “Knowing Italy means understanding that every region has its own identity. My Italian roots lead me to seek places that have an authentic identity and a story to tell. I do not choose a venue solely for its aesthetic beauty. I consider its architecture, its relationship with the landscape, the light, the proportions of the spaces, and the way guests will experience it throughout the day. Italy offers frescoed villas, historic palaces, castles, ancient monasteries, vineyards, and residences surrounded by nature. My role is to identify a place that is not merely visually striking, but that genuinely represents the couple. When the venue is the right one, it does not simply become the backdrop to the wedding: it becomes part of its narrative…”

I believe that the work of a Wedding Planner is made up of two dimensions that must coexist: method and emotion. Built with method, experienced with emotion. I seek to understand not only what the couple wish to see, but above all what they wish to experience and what they want their guests to experience. I explore their story, their origins, their traditions, their shared memories, and the way they envision their wedding. My work consists of bringing coherence to all these elements and transforming them into an experience…”

C&B: “When it comes to the core design of these weddings, how would you describe your overall approach to creating the style and the ambience?”
SM: “I never begin with a predetermined style or an image to replicate. I begin with people: their story, their sensitivity, the chosen location, and the way they want their guests to feel. It’s a form of quiet luxury – perceived through quality, balance, and attention to detail, without the need for ostentation. I’d define it as a design that listens…”

I believe that tradition should not be reproduced rigidly, but interpreted with respect and contemporary sensitivity. Trends can offer new forms of expression and inspiration, but they should never become the starting point of a project. If a choice is consistent with the couple and the context, it can acquire meaning. My goal is to create a natural balance between heritage and contemporary style, so that the result feels current while continuing to evoke emotion for years to come…”

C&B: “Which specific celebration in your portfolio are you most proud of?”
SM: “One of the projects I am most proud of is an Indian wedding celebrated in Italy. The most fascinating challenge was bringing together two seemingly distant worlds: on one side, the colours, rituals, and traditions of Indian culture; on the other, the elegance of Italian villas, landscapes, and architecture. Every moment was designed with respect for the authentic meaning of the couple’s traditions, integrating them harmoniously into the Italian setting. We did not want one culture to prevail over the other, but for both to be recognisable and celebrated. I’m particularly attached to this wedding because it represents one of the most beautiful aspects of my work: creating a shared language through which different cultures, families, and traditions can come together authentically…”
C&B: “Final question, Sara: What luxury wedding theme, or themes, are you looking forward to introducing to your clients next?”
SM: “Rather than introducing new themes, I wish to continue developing weddings that are increasingly personal and immersive. I believe that the new luxury lies in personalisation, authenticity, and the time devoted to people. It means rediscovering natural materials, craftsmanship, places, and Italian traditions passed down through generations, interpreting them through a contemporary language. The future I envision is made up of increasingly profound and cohesive experiences, capable of creating authentic connections…”
