ANN-SOPHIE & ANDREW, NYC

Our combination of clean Scandinavian aesthetic combined with Pulitzer Prize level photojournalism is such a unique balance. Fire and Ice. Plus, we’re a hoot to be around. Let’s hang!”

Ann-Sophie and Andrew are a husband-and-wife wedding photography team based in Manhattan, New York. With Ann-Sophie from Denmark and Andrew from Australia, their diverse backgrounds enrich their storytelling through photography. Their journey began when they crossed paths in Manhattan, culminating in a shared passion for capturing the beauty and emotion inherent in weddings. Together, they create timeless images that reflect the unique love stories of each couple they work with, skilfully blending their artistic perspectives to deliver exceptional results…

C&B: “Ann-Sophie and Andrew, what first inspired you both to pursue careers in wedding photography?”

AS&A: “We had both worked in different fields of photography beforehand. Ann-Sophie worked in the commercial world shooting athleisure and lifestyle while Andrew worked around the world covering global news. Weddings were a more of a side gig then and we were represented by Christian Oth, a master of wedding photography. After the 2024 US Election, Andrew was incredibly burnt out. We decided it would be a great time to start our own wedding studio because we had absolutely loved shooting them together under Christian. In 2025, just as we started our business, Andrew was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for being part of an investigative team with Reuters. It was a perfect end to that chapter and a wonderful launchpad into this next phase…”

C&B: “That’s an incredibly unique background! How would you describe the photographic style you’ve developed, and how has it evolved over the years?”

AS&A: “‘Refined documentary’. Ann-Sophie is very design focused in that considered Scandinavian way. Andrew loves the human connection and big moments. He’s always in the right place at the right time. It’s a great balance. Lately we’ve learned to focus on the moments between moments. The seams, if you will…”

C&B: “That’s a very interesting approach. In your opinion, what are the essential elements that contribute to a successful wedding photograph?”

AS&A: “Like all great art, if it elicits an emotional response from the viewer. Beauty, composition, creativity, an iconic moment perfectly captured. Something that has an energy and doesn’t rely on gimmicks…”

We love to meet our couples, and any close family members involved, in person beforehand. If that means an engagement shoot or even brunch, it makes such a difference to their comfort factor in-front of the camera. By the time the wedding day comes, we know each other, we’re on the same page and it’s all systems go. ..”

C&B: “What tips do you have for couples to prepare for their wedding photos?”

AS&A: “Trust your photographers!! Between us both we’ve photographed everything from multiple MET Galas, celebrity portraits, 20 seasons of NYFW and most importantly, hundreds of weddings. Do not worry, we’ve got this!”

Details are such an important part of the wedding day! They provide aesthetic and vibe. The client has spent countless hours selecting all of these elements. We love capturing them beautifully and sprinkling them through the album. It adds so much to the end result…”

C&B: “And how do you ensure that each couple’s unique story is reflected in the end wedding images?

AS&A: “Short of opening an investigation, we want to know everything!! How did you meet? What’s your favorite hobby? Why this venue? What do you love about your dress? All of these elements can be incorporated into our perspective of the day. Their backstory led them to this moment. Knowing as much as possible provides depth to the coverage. You can really see it in the work…”

When it comes to our favourite locations, a gorgeous day in The Hamptons is hard to beat Crisp air, warm light. Green grass meeting sand. Classic architecture. Everybody at the wedding feels like they’re on vacation. It’s wonderful energy. For a city wedding, of course Manhattan. The most iconic city in the world!”

C&B: “Absolutely – you both certainly know what you’re doing! Are there any particularly outstanding memories you have from photographing a wedding?”

AS&A: “We were photographing a wedding on Fire Island last year. It was meant to be on the beach but the day of the wedding was an absolute monsoon so the ceremony was moved into a tent. You never know how a bride will react to bad weather. Our bride Andie was unshakable. When she entered the ceremony, all 300 guests erupted. It was so loud, like a football stadium. The overwhelming look of joy on Andie’s face as she walked down the aisle was incredible. Her grandparents saw her and burst into tears. Like bawling. Really powerful stuff. It bought home the reason why we are doing this. It’s all about love and family…”
