I thrive in the collaborative environment we create with clients to elevate and customise their vision and bring it to life not just through venues, florals, and rentals but through an authentic experience that reflects who they are and the things they love…”

Lynette Dow is the founder of Lynette Dow Events, a premier event planning company based in the picturesque locale of Cabo, Mexico. With extensive expertise in creating unforgettable celebrations, Lynette specialises in curating exquisite spring weddings that embody the beauty and vibrancy of the season. In our discussion, we explore a variety of themes that resonate with the essence of spring, ranging from romantic garden ceremonies adorned with blooming florals to elegant coastal affairs that highlight Cabo’s breathtaking landscapes. Lynette’s commitment to personalising each event ensures that couples can celebrate their unique love stories in a manner that is both memorable and reflective of their individual tastes…
C&B: “Lynette, this time of year is all about freshness and renewal. Can you give us a few examples of Spring themed weddings and/or events you have planned, and what gave them a seasonal flavour?”
LD: “Yes, Spring means new life, shades of green, airy movement, layers of colours. It brings to mind flowers such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, cosmos and ranunculus. Florals which have longer, more delicate stems that allow movement – with the incorporation of layers of greenery with textures and mixed tones. Flowers not only add colour, but also a feeling. They can be structural and minimal for a clean and modern feel or they can have long stems and layered petals which evoke movement and romance. The florals should be cohesive with the overall design concept and colour palette. Flower blocking and colour blocking are also wonderful ways to create visual interest. Personally, I love tulips of all shapes and colours, plus daffodils and delphiniums…”

Our typical palette at this time of year is pastels, and when I think of Spring I think of the shades of green that we see with new grass and new leaves, of fruit trees blooming. The type of flowers that resonate with our clients are daffodils, narcissus, irises, and tulips…”

C&B: “What are would you say are key elements to consider when designing a luxury event inspired by the beauty of nature during this season?
LD: “Embracing the energy and aesthetics of the venue with the client’s design makes their event even more fluid and special. We consider the architectural elements, the building aesthetic, the landscape and the overall mood…”

I love tones of yellow and orange because, to me, they make a tablescape look happy. To modernise a spring look we use lilies or a floral that is more sculptural and clean and simplify the layers of green…”

C&B: “Can you share examples of local venues that your company suggests to clients for an indoor or outdoors Spring-themed wedding or event?”
LD: “Cabo specialises in outdoor venues as we average only 10 – 12 days of rain annually! Our favourites in the area are:
- Flora Farms
- El Huerto
- Montage, Ocean Lawn
- Solaz, Tennis Court Lawn
- Acre, Mango Grove
C&B: “Can you share some innovative ideas for outdoor settings that enhance the overall experience for guests?”
LD: “Selecting unconventional table shapes and layouts can add a lot of visual interest to your overall design without adding additional cost. You need tables no matter what! Creating different but cohesive tablescapes for different table formats within the event makes the visual impact very dynamic for both the photographer and the guests. Mixing in sofas or booths for seating at dinner tables can create a very different feeling than individual seats. Seating is a big part of your visual experience that is often underestimated…”
C&B: “What entertainment do you generally suggest to your clients to complement an indoor/outdoor event or wedding?”
LD: “I love pop up entertainment and interactive sets to keep guests engaged and excited to see what’s next. Roaming musicians with live instruments such at sax, violin, trumpet are a great addition to any part of the reception – they can be added to the DJ set or play with background tracks. Flash-mobs and dance routines that are cohesive with the event are great while guests are seated for dinner. Fire-dancers, fireworks, colour-bombs, and pyrotechnics are always a win. Projections can enhance a space and bring to life an empty wall and make the venue an immersive experience…”

Spring-time cocktail ideas are based on where the marriage is taking place, and what’s in season – for example, strawberries, apricots, cherries and mangos. The couple should suggest their favourite flavours and the mixologist then combines them with the most appropriate spirit…”

C&B: “What tips can you offer for curating luxurious favour options that reflect the essence of this time of year?”
LD: “We advise clients to fully embrace their wedding location! In Mexico we customise tequila bottles with handmade tequileras, Mexican chocolate with branded wrapping, dried mangos with chili with branded wrapping, artisan mineral water, artisanal beer and Mexican wines with custom labels…”
C&B: “Invitations are also important as they suggest the theme, and the tone. How do you customise the stationery?”
LD: “I love custom invitations, and working with a vendor like Linden Illustrations, we can demonstrate the Spring flora and fauna of the venue. Couples can use these illustrations though-out their wedding weekend to truly customise their events: the dance floor, bar inlays, seating chart, napkins, table numbers, menus – the options are endless…”
