LOVE TREE STUDIOS

The work I’m most proud of isn’t the venues or the gowns or the light. It’s the feeling. The intimacy between two people who have chosen each other. The joy that spills out before anyone can stop it. The stillness of a moment that is somehow already a memory. Not just beautiful images, but proof that it was exactly as extraordinary as it felt…”

Aubrey Rowden is a highly regarded photographer and the owner of Love Tree Studios, located in Missouri. With a specialisation in fine art wedding photography, she has cultivated an impressive career that spans over two decades, with more than 12 of those years exclusively dedicated to capturing the beauty and emotion of weddings. C&B: “Aubrey, you have a wonderful portfolio of work. How and when did you first start your company?”

AR: “I founded Love Tree Studios in 2011, though photography claimed me long before that. Film photography is what first made me fall in love with this craft, and that foundation still informs everything I do. There’s a softness and depth to film that digital can chase but rarely match. Over a decade in, the work still moves me the same way…”

Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis delivers classic elegance with grounds that feel effortlessly refined…”

C&B: “Who are your typical clients and how do they hear about you?”

AR: “My clients are couples who know what they want and why it matters. Thoughtful and intentional, they spend time finding the right vendors rather than just filling roles. They care about quality, experience, and having something to show their children someday that captures exactly who their parents were on that day. Most find me through past clients, Google, or Instagram, where many have followed my work for months before reaching out. They come to me because they feel something when they look at my images, and they want to feel that way about their own. What I create isn’t a record of a wedding day – it’s a feeling you can hold in your hands…”

On the day itself, I’m not directing a performance; I’m watching for the real thing and ready when it happens…”

C&B: “Are there any unique elements or techniques that you incorporate into your images?”

AR: “Everything I do is rooted in the film photography tradition. I’m drawn to natural light and stillness, to the kind of image that doesn’t announce itself but stops you cold years later. I spend time with every couple before their wedding day to learn how they move together, what makes them laugh, what they look like when they forget I’m there…”

Most of my couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for peak dates in spring and fall…”

C&B: “Can you share any examples of venues that you suggest to clients for their shoot?”

AR: “The St. Kate Arts Hotel in Milwaukee brings a creative energy that makes for truly distinctive wedding photography. Union Station St. Louis offers sweeping historic architecture that photographs beautifully. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City is architecturally stunning and unlike anything else in the Midwest. For destination couples, the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel offers old-world luxury in the heart of a great city…”

C&B: “Last question, it’s always lovely to receive feedback from happy couples – What have you received from yours about their experiences?”

AR: “What I hear most often is that couples felt genuinely at ease, which matters more to me than almost any other compliment. One couple told me my calm presence gave them total confidence everything would go smoothly. Another said the images captured moments they didn’t even know were happening. The moments you don’t see coming, those are the ones worth chasing. Those are the ones that last…”
