WEDDINGS: SEMPRE FILMS

I keep my approach relaxed and unobtrusive so couples can enjoy the day without feeling like they’re constantly being filmed. And once the formalities are out of the way, if you can’t find me later on, just look towards the dance-floor!”

Harry Myers, Sempre Films

Harry Myers, the founder of Sempre Films, runs a wedding filmmaking business dedicated to creating cinematic, story-driven films that exude a sense of naturalness and timelessness. His primary aim is to capture the atmosphere and emotions of each wedding day without staging moments or directing couples, ensuring that their genuine experiences are authentically represented. Harry offers his services for weddings throughout the UK and also extends his expertise to destination weddings overseas. His passion for travel enriches his work, as he enjoys the opportunity to document weddings in diverse and unique locations. Many couples discover Harry’s work via Instagram, through recommendations from planners and photographers, or by viewing films he has created for friends and family. Bookings typically occur 12 to 24 months in advance, especially for peak season dates; however, there are occasionally opportunities for shorter lead times…

C&B: “Your films are classic, yet they have a fantastic contemporary vibe. Is it just you on your team or do you have others working with you?”

HM: “Sempre Films is run by myself, however I work with a small team of trusted second shooters and assistants depending on the scale of the wedding. I also work closely with planners and photographers to ensure the day runs smoothly…”

C&B: “What or who would you say most inspires you, and why?”

HM: “A lot of my inspiration comes from cinema and documentary storytelling, especially the way they capture small, honest moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Working with talented planners, photographers, and other creatives has also greatly influenced how I approach weddings. On a personal level, the importance of family and shared memories continues to influence how I film. Knowing I am capturing a day that couples will look back on in ten years’ time is something I find truly special…”

Where permissions and weather permit, I film by drone – this footage can be an excellent way to establish the setting and create a sense of scale, especially at countryside venues or coastal locations…”

C&B: “Which are your favourite wedding locations, and why?”

HM: “I tend to enjoy venues that have plenty of character and good natural light, as they make filming feel more relaxed and authentic. I’ve had some fantastic experiences working at Hedsor House, Ashridge House, Peckforton Castle, and Colshaw Hall, as they all offer very different settings and backdrops. I also really enjoy destination weddings. Spending time at Hôtel de Paris in Monaco was a highlight for me, as the atmosphere and scale of the celebrations there were completely different from anything I’ve shot before…”

I’ve worked closely with Dale Alexander Events on a number of weddings and have also collaborated with various planners and creative teams across different venues. Building strong relationships with planners is something I truly value, as it helps create a calm and well organised experience for couples…”

C&B: “To date, what would you say has been your favourite project?”

HM: “It’s hard to pick just one wedding, as the projects that stay with me are usually those with a strong sense of atmosphere and personality. I enjoy filming celebrations where there’s genuine thought put into the setting, design, and overall guest experience, but equally, it’s often the quieter, more intimate moments throughout the day that end up meaning the most in the final film…”
