C&B: “How did you start your journey in photography?”

FF: “Ten years ago, I embarked on a journey that led me to become who I am today, an editorial photographer and creative director of my projects and events. At the beginning of my career, my passion for visual and conceptual art drove me to explore a wide range of photographic genres, each of which helped shape my creative identity and develop skills that would become essential for my role as a professional photographer and creative director of my studio…”

“Initially, I immersed myself in landscape photography, fascinated by the ability to capture natural beauty in all its majesty. This photographic genre helped me understand the importance of light and composition, elements I would apply in every aspect of my work. Subsequently, I explored portrait photography, refining my ability to capture the essence of people through the lens…”

“This taught me to communicate and create emotional connections, essential skills for a creative director who often needs to direct teams and collaborate with models, artists, and couples. Attracted by fashion photography, I began to develop my projects where I learned the art of styling and staging, crucial elements for creating visually appealing images that align with my aesthetic narrative…”

“In parallel, I explored the world of documentary photography through weddings and private events, developing a keen eye for detail and the ability to tell powerful and authentic stories through images. Over the years, I began to combine these different approaches into a unique personal style, characterized by innovative use of light, impeccable composition, and extraordinary emotional depth…”

“This synthesis of experiences has made me a master in creating images that are not only visually interesting but also evoke deep emotions and reflections. My versatility and creative flair have not gone unnoticed, and my projects started receiving recognitions in national and international blogs and magazines…”

“My ability to experiment and continually reinvent myself has made me an artist in constant evolution, always seeking new challenges and ways to express my artistic vision…”

I transform every shot into a living fine art masterpiece: as the son of a Tuscan painter and an art lover, I bring the beauty of artistic tradition into my editorial photographs, creating editorial images that resemble modern paintings, inspired by fashion and lifestyle. This kind of photography aims to tell a story through a single image, paying attention to details, composition, and overall aesthetics. The photos often turn out to be elegant, refined and artistic, in line with the standards of editorial publications. CB: “Within the vast catalogue of work you have produced, who has been your most memorable client?”

FF: “My most memorable client has always been someone who fully embodies my artistic vision and wants to tell his story through my lens. His life story is unique and emotional, deserving to be narrated in a special way. Each shot becomes a chapter, each pose an emotion captured for eternity. His dedication and loyalty to my vision are felt at every moment. This extraordinary client is not only a storyteller of deep and touching emotions but also a bold explorer of something never seen before. Exploring new ideas and bringing visions to life that once seemed impossible makes our collaboration very exciting. Definitively, he is not just a client; he is my travel friend on an extraordinary journey. His presence enriches my creative work, making it unforgettable and unique. His story, his passion, and his courage to experiment are an inexhaustible source of inspiration and motivation for me. Together, we continue to create images that speak to the heart and mind, images that tell unforgettable stories and celebrate the beauty of art without limits…”

C&B: “What have been your most challenging moments as a photographer?”

FF: “The greatest challenge for an editorial photographer is undoubtedly a complex mix of factors that require a perfect balance of creativity, technical skills, and visual storytelling ability. Each shot must be perfect, beginning with meticulous work on an interesting and compelling story, navigating through technical skills to adapt to unpredictable variables such as lighting conditions, and culminating in visual composition that not only captures the audience’s attention but also effectively tells a unique story…”

C&B: “What do you most love about your projects?”

FF: “I love the human body—the poses and gestures of men and women that make each figure unique and captivating. My passion for anatomy is reflected in every shot, where the precision and beauty of human forms are highlighted through a skillful play of light, shadows, and particular angles. I do not merely capture a body but transform it into a work of art, exploring the complexity and harmony of anatomical lines. Each muscle, curve, and joint is accentuated with extreme care, creating images that are both aesthetically captivating and deeply evocative. The poses I choose are studied to express a wide range of emotions and states of mind. Through a pose, a body can communicate strength, vulnerability, grace, or tension. I play with postures and movements to tell a story. Every gesture, no matter how small, is significant: a hand brushing a face, a leg bent elegantly, a gaze looking afar. These gestures, frozen in time by photography, speak directly to the viewer, evoking deep feelings and reflections. Both men and women are privileged subjects of my lens. In male portraits, I often focus on strength and muscular definition, capturing power and structure. In female portraits, I explore the softness and fluidity of forms, highlighting natural sensuality and grace. However, I do not get trapped by gender stereotypes: I am skilled at showing strength in a woman and delicacy in a man, breaking traditional barriers and inviting the viewer to see beauty in diversity. My photography is a celebration of the human body in all its facets. Each image is an invitation to see the body not only as anatomical parts but as a unique expression of individual identity and essence, capturing the wonder and depth of the human body in all its glory…”

C&B: “For Francesco Fornaini, who is the perfect client?”

FF: “My ideal clients have a high artistic sensitivity and a critical eye for photography. They understand the importance of composition, light, and concept behind each shot. They are someone who sees beyond the surface and recognizes the value of innovation and originality. They are open to collaboration and respect the photographer’s vision. They are willing to experiment and give space to the photographer’s creativity. They appreciate the creative process as much as the final result. They are drawn to photographic projects that tell stories or explore profound concepts. They may be passionate about visual narratives that go beyond simple portrait or fashion photography, seeking images with an emotional and intellectual impact. They recognize the value of the photographer’s work and are not just clients looking for a service but art investors and collectors. These clients are willing to pay a fair price for works they consider meaningful and of high quality. My ideal clients desire unique, custom-made works, something that cannot be easily replicated. They value exclusivity and originality, seeking pieces that can become focal points in an art collection or editorial project. They see photography as a medium to express complex ideas and emotions. They are people who, through respect and collaboration, allow me to create works that go beyond the simple image, becoming true conceptual masterpieces…”
