JAIMEE MORSE, WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m always excited about couples who are fashion-forward or who have unique ideas for their weddings; as a passionate fashion enthusiast, I’m particularly interested when a bride wears a distinctive gown or opts for a gown change…”

Jaimee Morse, Wedding Photographer

Jaimee Morse is an international wedding photographer based in Arizona and New England who travels all over the world documenting love stories. Featured in the CITY & BEACH LIFESTYLE ‘TOP 10 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS 2024’, Jaimee’s work has been featured in over seventy five different publications, including People Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides Magazine, Town & Country Magazine, Over The Moon, Grace Ormonde. Here we discuss how she started out in the business and her favourite locations…

C&B: “Jaimee, you’re based between two very different locations. Why is that, and how did you start out in wedding photography?”

JM: “Yes, I live in Arizona during the school year, and then my family and I spend the summer in New England. I started my photography career about fourteen years ago because I knew I wanted children and wanted to stay home with them, and I also knew I’d want a chance to get out and have a little ‘side hobby’ for myself. After shooting my first wedding, I realised I wanted this to be much bigger than a hobby, so I spent the next few years growing my business to a sustainable level where I could go into it full time…”

C&B: “Where was that very first project and how did it go?”

JM: “The first wedding I ever shot was a barn wedding in the middle of Wisconsin; I charged the couple $400 to photograph their whole wedding day and then also gave them a linen flat lay album – so, I ended up making about $2 per hour! The wedding went well, though, and the couple loved their images! That was the start of it all…”

C&B: “That was a great start! How do you now find your clients, or do they find you?”

JM: “The majority of my clients find me through their planners, but for the few who don’t, they find me through Instagram…”

C&B: “Instagram is such a good resource, particularly for weddings; do you work with the same planners often?”

JM: “I definitely have a few planners that I work with pretty consistently, but I am also meeting new people in the business all the time…”

C&B: “Great planners and great locations are often key to creating the best backdrops for images – which venues are your favourites, and why?”

JM: “I do love a Newport RI mansion; they have such a European vibe without leaving the States – and most of them have the ocean as their backyard!”
