BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE: LISA GRIFFITHS HAIR & MAKEUP

INTRO BY NICKY SUMMER: “Even after years of having my hair and makeup done for professional modelling jobs, I still love getting dressed up and trying out the latest brands of cosmetics and hair products. I’m continually inspired by current trends, tho’ I tend to stick within the boundaries of a fairly natural look, day and evening, whatever the occasion may be. A professional makeup artist and hairdresser give an absolutely flawless, photo-ready finish – something that can be quite hard to produce on your own – particularly if it’s an ‘up-do’ for hair along with that difficult-to-achieve ‘barely there’ makeup. Having my hair and makeup done for me prior to an engagement helps me to relax and get into a mood of excited anticipation while I chat with the team. I feel it’s important to invest in support to ensure my overall appearance is absolutely immaculate, and this is where the combined talents of Lisa Griffiths come in as she provides both hair and makeup services for her private clients within the luxury wedding and special events arena. If you ever need an expert hair and makeup artist, Lisa is the one to contact!”

My day to day work ranges from weddings – red carpet events, catwalk shows, editorial, corporate events – to my in salon clients wanting the latest colour/haircut…”

Modern, chic hairstyles and soft yet glamorous make up are often chosen by my fashion-forward clients.  Whether it’s a day out at Royal Ascot, a work event or Gala dinner, my clients are working, busy women juggling a work/life/family balance, yet they still make time for themselves to ensure they always look and feel their very best…”

Brides often search the internet to find the current trends for bridal hair and make up; with the vast choice available, it can be a daunting task to find exactly the right style for them. Many of my brides come to me for the ‘soft and undone’ look – whether that be a soft tousled updo or half-up-half-down. Equally, the Hollywood wave has been a consistent trend for the past few years and is still hugely popular…”

I always ask my brides/red carpet clients to show me three looks for their inspirational hair and make up ideas and then we go through a full consultation process – we generally agree on a style that’s somewhere in the middle of all three. I always set out to deliver beyond the expectations of my client, although in the social media world we now live in, this can indeed be challenging! It’s always good to work from a precise brief, and I continually refer to that format throughout the trial process so as to stay on point…”

  • ‘UK Lash’ eyelash serum, for longer lashes

I gained my experience over the years through knocking on the right doors and working hard to work with the very best in my industry. I’ve met many of the worlds best wedding planners and industry elites, a lot of whom I’ve worked on for their own hair and make up. Working on the Red Carpet at TV Award shows has also gained me TV experience. Wedding planners and event organisers I regularly work with include Johnny Roxburgh Designs, Matt Maurice Events, VC Event Curation, Emma Murray Jones and RSVP (formerly known as Bridelux)! I do undertake destination projects, however the majority take place within London and the surrounding areas such as Berkshire, Hampshire and further out to Surrey and Dorset.”

I provide hair and makeup to my clients for red carpet events, parties, family occasions and corporate events; Ascot is a favourite week as I love working with milliners to create fabulous hairstyles that showcase their wonderful hat designs. During peak season, I need as much as notice as possible from a prospective client; in low season I can still be very busy and booked up. Weddings were once traditionally held over the summer months, yet December/Christmas weddings are becoming increasingly common; I always recommend to clients that they secure their suppliers as early as possible…”
