C&B: “Rachel, what first prompted you to go into floral design as a career, where did you begin, and how has your own team developed?”

RM: “My combined love of flowers and weddings prompted me to go into the business; I started my career at Jane Packer and then freelanced with a number of other London-based floral design companies before setting up my own brand. My team consists of amazing freelance florists and support staff – the number of people depends on the size of the wedding or event we’re working on…”

C&B: “There are a huge number of weddings and events taking place in and around London every week therefore there’s plenty of opportunity, however floral design is also a very competitive business – what would you say differentiates your service from others?”

This coming year our mission is to team up and work with many of the amazing planners that produce larger scale weddings around Europe…”

C&B: “When you’re working on an event or wedding at one of the exclusive venues you’ve mentioned, what is your biggest challenge to overcome?”

RM: “Time is always my biggest challenge as we often have to set up large weddings or events in a very short space of time. Also certain locations can be tricky, such as The Gherkin or The Shard!”

I work all over London; my company is a recommended supplier at The Corinthia, The Gherkin, The Shard, Merchant Taylors Hall, Dartmouth House and The Landmark Hotel, amongst others…”

C&B: “Given the pressures of your work and all the various elements involved – from consultations, ordering, design and installation – do you ever find your work stressful?”

RM: “It can be stressful especially as everything must come together all at once for an event or a wedding and none of the components can be prepared very far in advance. The way I choose to relax is binge-watching a series on Netflix, whenever I find the time! I also relax by going to the gym – spin classes are my favourite. Also, spending time with my family is really important to me…”
