We treat every wedding as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create something not just beautiful, but profoundly memorable. Lake Como is a spectacular canvas, but it’s what you layer on top that makes the difference. That’s where Snapdragon excels…”
Julia Dowling, Snapdragon London
Snapdragon London delivers one-off, high-luxury weddings on Lake Como that are deeply immersive and entirely bespoke. The destination is breathtaking, visually extraordinary, and logistically complex, offering considerable creative potential for any event planner. Snapdragon has built pontoons to allow guests to arrive by water, hired entire fleets of Italian boats for private transfers, created bespoke raised structures above ground, and engaged A-list entertainers to perform under the stars. Snapdragon London collaborates with a trusted circle of exceptional suppliers, both locally and from nearby regions such as Switzerland, and possesses the expertise to navigate all aspects of event planning, including permits and maintaining privacy. Given the undeniable popularity of Lake Como, they delight in incorporating lesser-known spots and unique perspectives of the lake for clients seeking something distinctive…
C&B: “Julia, what specifically differentiates your services from other event planners in the Lake Como region?”
JD: “Snapdragon doesn’t offer off-the-shelf weddings; every celebration we create is entirely bespoke built from the ground up to reflect our clients’ vision, values, and story. We are known not only for our discretion and creative detail, but for our military-level precision behind the scenes. What truly sets us apart is that we don’t just plan a wedding, we curate an extraordinary guest experience from start to finish. From seamless arrivals and personalised itineraries to concierge-level service throughout the stay, we ensure every guest feels as if they’re on the most thoughtful, beautiful holiday they’ve ever experienced. For our clients, this means total peace of mind and the rare luxury of being able to fully enjoy their celebration…”
C&B: “What are the typical timelines and milestones in the wedding planning process for an event of this calibre, and how do you facilitate communication and coordination?”
JD: “Ideally, we like to work with twelve months advance notice, or more. That said, we have delivered extraordinary weddings in far shorter timeframes when required. Regardless of the lead time, our approach is the same: everything is run with military precision. We operate detailed project plans with clear timelines, transparent communication, and meticulous coordination across the supply chain. Every stakeholder, from client to supplier, is fully aligned, and expectations are carefully managed at every stage. Particularly for destination weddings, where many moving parts cross borders and time zones, we ensure communication remains calm, consistent, and structured…”

We favour venues that offer privacy and flexibility – often dry hire villas or off-the-beaten-track spaces that allow us to design a completely new environment for each couple. We do also work with five-star properties along the water’s edge for clients seeking the refinement of hotel service, but always ensure the setting feels intimate and distinctive. The lake view is, of course, non-negotiable, our approach is to frame it as a key element of the guest experience, rather than simply a backdrop…”

C&B: “How do you ensure that the wedding experience is tailored to the couple’s specific vision and preferences, given the cultural nuances of a destination wedding?”
JD: “Our planning process is highly personalised, and relationship driven. We take the time to understand the couple; their taste, their family dynamics, their story – before we begin designing. For destination weddings, we’re acutely aware of the cultural nuances, guest expectations, and logistical sensitivities that need to be managed. We act as both interpreter and advocate for our clients, ensuring their vision is honoured while also aligning with local customs and capabilities…”

We only work with best-in-class suppliers – people who care as much as we do – and are willing to push boundaries with us. Every vendor is thoroughly vetted, briefed, and closely managed. Our supply chain is run like a military operation, with clear roles, timelines, and contingencies in place. We are deeply respectful of our suppliers, and in turn, they go above and beyond for us and for our clients. That mutual trust and excellence is the foundation of how we work with our vendors; it’s not just preferred, it’s essential and allows us to uphold the standard of experience our clients expect from a Snapdragon wedding…”

C&B: “As you said, Lake Como is magical – although the weather can be dramatically unpredictable – four seasons in one day! What logistical considerations should couples be aware of when planning a wedding there, and how do you assist in navigating these challenges?”
JD: “Yes, Lake Como is stunning but can be unpredictable particularly when it comes to weather. Being in the shadow of the mountains means conditions can change rapidly, and while sunshine is common, sudden storms and strong winds are not unusual. When the wind picks up, the water can turn unexpectedly choppy, making boat transfers uncomfortable or in some cases, inadvisable. A solid weather contingency plan is essential, as is factoring in access to certain venues, which may only be reachable by boat or require specific permissions. We handle all of this quietly and thoroughly, ensuring that every detail is accounted for – from guest transfers to adhering to local regulations – so that nothing interrupts the celebration…”

Every celebration we produce is entirely unique, never repeated, never templated. Every element is designed to surprise and delight, from the first glimpse to the final farewell. It’s in the layering of these sensory details that the magic happens…”
